Adventures & Experiences,  Burning Man

Finally. We Explore.

Sarah’s been singing, “I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bicycle. Bii-cycle! Bii-cycle!” all afternoon while we’ve been setting up camp. Now, I can’t get it out of my head now and I too would very much like to go out and see what’s out there. Finally, we get to go.

This place…this thing…it’s freaking amazing. The expanse of it all. The creativity of the people with their camps and art cars, their costumes. I couldn’t explain Burning Man before I got here and now that I’m here, I can explain it even less.
Then there’s the night time. Oh my god. It’s even more incredible at night. It feels like the time we have here is so short because you want to see everything in the day and you want to see it all again at night because the energy is so different. I think nighttime on the Esplanade is one of my favorite things. There are so many lights and sounds; it’s sensory overload. The options of what to do next all beckon out at once. It’s amazing the wattage of power that spins from every location. You can hear multiple strands of music just playing on top of each other. The lighted art cars with their parties on top and insides. The big rolling birthday cake, the pirate ship and the elusive Purple Haze double-decker, extra long bus are all rides to be had. The domes spinning techno music are all clubs where dancing must occur. The lights. Everywhere there are lights. Spinning, flashing, changing colors, moving to music, making people move. The night is pretty awesome.

No picture can capture it all. Even video would fall short. No wonder people come back over and over again. This place has this energy that circulates and thrives that you can only understand when you stand in the middle of it all.
